Monika and Derric’s Wedding

With the first day of spring came my first spring wedding of 2010. Monika and Derric had their wedding and reception at Hillcrest Hall in Little Rock. It started out a beautiful spring day but as the afternoon waned, the rain came in and did not stop!  But they did not let that stop them from having a great time. They even went on a horse-drawn carriage ride in the rain. Here are a few images while I sort through the rest:

Monika was the undisputed queen for the day and here she is with her royal court (a.k.a the bridal party).

This is a candid portrait snapped during our group portrait session outside. She looks so glam!

This has to be my favorite ring picture I have done so far. We did this out on the porch in twilight with an on-camera flash and it turned out fantastic!

Monika and Derric proving that bad weather was not going to dampen their spirits. This was taken just before they loaded up for their carriage ride around the historic district.

This wedding was so much fun, and I wish Monika and Derric all the best!

Saturday’s shoot with a future supermodel

This past weekend I did a portrait session for another future little model. This time around a rambunctious 2-year-old girl who was very cute, but not that interested in getting her picture taken. This is actually fairly common with 2-year-olds, they seem to be  interested in everything but what you are trying to get them to do at the moment! I would love to be able to use some fun backgrounds and props, but the modeling agency has pretty narrow guidelines for what you can use. We will be doing another session soon, but here are some of my favorites so far:

Look at those big blue eyes! Such a cutie 🙂

sometimes you just have to go with whatever is holding a toddlers attention. In this case, it was the bag with her accessories and shoes.

Strike a pose and show off that coat like a model!

Monika and Derrick’s Engagement Portraits

This past weekend I went down to Little Rock to do engagement portraits with Monika and Derrick. They are getting married in less than a month and will be my first spring wedding of 2010. The weather could not have been better for February with temps around 55 and lots of sunshine. It was such a nice change from the cold weather! We actually got to do outside pictures, which for this time of year is never a given. Here are a few images from the shoot:

This image was taken in front of the Chinese gate in front of the Martial Arts Garden downtown. The bright red makes a great backdrop.

I love this image. We were getting a little too much sun in this location, but I don't think it takes away from the image.
